If you ever get a chance to see this little Japanese film on PBS, please check it out.

BTW: Doki means people who are at the same place, same job, same situation, at the same time. Don't know if there's an english word which quite conveys that meaning.

Here's the synopsis:
In suburban Tokyo, commuters find themselves waiting every day with the same group of strangers for the same seats on the same train...until one day, things change.
